Haloi Anoichi Toiv Loch Mei’asoroh Bonim

R’ Pinchas Reizes was one of the illustrious Chassidim of the Alter Rebbe. In addition to being very learned in Chassidus (the Frierdige Rebbe said that his hanachos of the maamorim of the Alter Rebbe were the most precise), he was also very wealthy, and used his position to do much good for other Jews. However, sadly, he and his wife never merited a child [The Alter Rebbe once told him that his neshomo from almo d’nukvo, and that therefore it would be impossible for him to bear children].
Once, when he was beseeching the Alter Rebbe to have pity on him and bless him with children, the Alter Rebbe responded with the Possuk (that quotes the words of Eili to Chana, that we read in the haftoroh of the first day of Rosh Hashonoh): ‘Haloi Anoichi Toiv Loch Mei’asoroh Bonim’. The Alter Rebbe interpreted it: “Anoichi, - the concepts of G-dliness that you learned from me, the teachings of chassidus – should be more precious to you than 10 children”!
